This is a global campaign commencing on 25 November and ending on 10 December, which is Human rights day. The annual campaign seeks to raise awareness on violence perpetrated against women and girls. The theme for this year is:
“Accelerating actions to end gender-based violence & femicide: leaving no one behind”.
Statistics on violence against women and girls from the World Health Organization reveal:
1 in 3 women worldwide have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime.
Worldwide, almost one third of women aged 15-49 years report that they experienced physical and or sexual violence by their intimate partner.
If you or anyone you know have been subjected to any form of gender based violence, help is here.
You are not alone.
Talk to us today.
